Frequently Asked Questions

Lots of people joke with us about handing out cookies. As they say, we are just protecting job security. Actually, they are exactly right, but not because we use cookies to cause cavities (although that’s not a bad idea!) We build our reputation by offering hospitality that exceeds your expectations. A freshly baked cookie is our friendly way of saying that we hope our service exceeds your expectations too.

When you get your cookie today, we hope you can say you’ve never been to a dental office like ours. We hope you can say that your experience with us was unique and the care you received by our team was special and exemplary. We hope you share your experience with your friends and family so our mission will continue to grow.

We typically reserve 90 minutes or more for new patients so that we can comprehensively assess your dental condition and coordinate your treatment plan. Your appointment will include:

  • Discussing any concerns you may have
  • Identifying your priorities and values
  • Review of your medical history
  • Taking necessary x-rays
  • Examining your teeth, gums, TMJ, and mouth breathing
  • Assessing your risk for future dental problems
  • Taking pictures and discussing of your dental conditions and findings
  • Follow-up scheduling
  • Insurance benefit coordination
  • Financial arrangements
  • Discussion of any questions you may have
  • Cleaning and polishing of the teeth (unless gum disease is present)
  • Fluoride application
  • Home care suggestions and information

We understand going to the dentist can be scary, so we work tirelessly to ensure your appointment is as comfortable as possible. Our goal is for every appointment to have zero discomfort. In fact, every day our guests tell us they are surprised by their experience with us, especially for the most demanding procedures such as tooth extraction. For appointments where complete comfort can only be achieved by sedation, we offer in-house sedation services to protect the quality of your experience while you are in our care. You will be in excellent, caring hands at all times when you are with us.

Absolutely! Our mission is to change your perspective of coming to the dentist. If you are hesitant to come to the dentist, sedation can change your whole experience!

Most appointments require no time off of work. If your appointment requires extended recovery time, we’ll advise you in advance and coordinate that before your procedure is scheduled.

Yes. We want to be available when you need us most, and most of the time we can accommodate your needs the same day you call.

Many people sleep through their appointments. We have been routinely using sedation dental appointments since 2007.

We have a family practice that sees people of all ages. However, because of Dr. Cox’s experience working in a children’s clinic before opening TFD, Dr. Cox is able to see thousands of children in our community. Providing excellent dental experiences for kids is where our mission of changing your perspective of dentistry begins.

We can almost always arrange an appointment for you the same day you call. When you need same-day attention, it’s best to call before 9:00am so we can plan accordingly for you.

Every service we provide is designed to look aesthetic and natural. We are here to give you a beautiful, confident smile!

Gums typically bleed if germs, plaque, or tartar have accumulated around the teeth or their roots. When gums bleed, it’s a sign that you may have an infection such as gingivitis or periodontal disease. These infections lead to loosening of teeth and eventually tooth removal. If your gums bleed for any reason, please schedule an appointment with us so that we can discuss how to restore your gum health.

Tooth sensitivity is often caused by grinding of the teeth, exposure of the roots, whitening toothpastes, fractures in the teeth, cavities, or calcium deficiencies in the enamel. While sensitivity toothpastes can help some, toothpaste alone is often not adequate to correct the condition. Professional treatments and solutions are available to address your concerns.

At TFD, we always provide up-front estimates for appointments. Once you arrive and we assess your condition and needs, we’ll provide an estimate for your treatment.

Each insurance policy is different, and it depends on the benefits you or your employer purchased when selecting your coverage. Bring your insurance information with you to your appointment, and we will verify your coverage and provide you an up-front estimate that details your insurance coverage and your out-of-pocket obligation.

Yes. We accept Care Credit payment plans. Many of our guests find Care Credit payment plans to be very helpful, and the approval process is quick and simple. Please let us know if we can help get this set up for you.

We are “in network” with most insurance providers. Contact us for further information.

Yes. We’ll coordinate your treatment plan to meet your dental, financial, scheduling, and comfort needs.

When financial barriers interfere with your treatment needs, good communication between us and you can lead to solutions that allow you to get your treatment done in manageable amounts. Sometimes that means addressing only one tooth per appointment. Other times it means that appointments need to be spaced apart by longer time periods. Whatever meets your needs is what we want to do for you.

When dental treatment can’t wait, Care Credit payment plans are a great resource that allow you to get your dental care completed same-day without having to delay and worsen your conditions due to financial barriers. The application process is quick and simple, and our team is always glad to help you with it.

Made an appointment to go in for an exam, got there and was told they would only be looking at ONE tooth! They would bill my insurance for that exam and X-rays and then have me come back and bill me again for another exam and more X-rays! Knowing good and well I was extremely limited with how little my insurance would pay! Plus not to mention I drove from Heber Springs to Searcy! Who goes to the dentist to have ONE tooth looked at unless maybe you had a severe issue with just ONE tooth. When I asked the dental assistant questions she had no answers. She was rude to me so I got up and walked out! Total waste of time and money! BEWARE they are all about racking up charges! They did not call me or apologize or anything. BEWARE! And to top it off, they have all of these Christian quotes on the wall? They do not care about anyone! Did not act like Christian's to me!

my kids have went here for years and have always loved it. unfortunately we're gonna be switching to a new dentist. they have a new rule that they won't see more than 2 siblings a day so if you have 3 kids, 2 can be seen on one day and the 3rd child will have to be seen another day and it's ridiculous to have to take off 2 days of work. if someone has 5 kids they have to do 3 seperate appointments and so on. They also won't let relatives schedule appointments on the same day anymore either. me and my sister schedule appointments on the same day for our kids because my nephew is Autistic and does better when his cousins are there.

I have had 3 teeth worked on, today I'm going to get another 2 pulled, I've seen adam 3 times, and all 3 times I've no had any issues or problems with him or his staff. Nice friendly people. Would definitely recommend

I absolutely love Dr. Cox and his team! They are all super friendly and professional. They take the time to address and explain any concern I may have for my kids and myself. Even the silly ones without making me feel crazy for asking. Any time we have needed work done, they always given me all the options along with the pros and cons to each. Never have I felt pushed to get something done. My kids have always felt at ease there and I have gone from being so scared and crying to smiling at my appointments. I'm so thankful for them!

Always so welcoming. The wait is a problem and a baby changing station would be nice. The ramp for handicap was blocked by a handicap parking spot. Other than that it is a very nice office…

The ENTIRE staff was very friendly and very aware of my anxiety and fear with dentists. I would recommend them to anybody!
